Job Advancement Quests: Decent/Devilic and Divine/Demonic

※ The quest steps are compiled from the in-game quest text. Quest, NPC and location names follow what the game displays.

 

1. Overview

 

Characters can advance their job twice. The first time, at Level 40, you choose between the Decent Stage and the Devilic Stage. The second time, at Level 70, the Decent Stage advances to the Divine Stage and the Devilic Stage advances to the Demonic Stage. Both advancements are done through Quests.

2. 1st Job Advancement Quest: Decent / Devilic (Level 40)

 

 

The early part of the War between Decent and Devilic quest is the same for both paths. The paths split at step 4, when you choose your master.

5	The Borderline of Oneself	Hong QiGong / Crazy Ouyang	The master's test • Decent: defeat the monsters Hong QiGong asks for, then win a duel against Hong QiGong's disciple • Devilic: first beat Crazy Ouyang's pet in a duel, then duel Crazy Ouyang's disciple If you lose, talk to the master again and retry.
6	Becoming Decent Stage Becoming Devilic Stage	Master → Oracle Prophet (Lo Yang)	After passing the test, talk to your master, then return to the Oracle Prophet in Lo Yang to report. This completes the 1st Job Advancement.

 

The disciple you duel in the final step is very strong. Prepare your equipment, Level and consumables before taking the challenge.

 

 

3. 2nd Job Advancement Quest: Divine / Demonic (Level 70)

 

 

After the 1st Job Advancement, once you reach Level 70, accept the quest from "Little Girl - Xiao Ling" in Beijing.

Following the path chosen in the 1st advancement, the Decent Stage advances to the Divine Stage and the Devilic Stage advances to the Demonic Stage. This quest takes you across many maps, so set aside enough time.

 

This quest has 3 parts done in a row. The steps are the same for both paths; only the master differs (Decent Stage = Hong QiGong, Devilic Stage = Crazy Ouyang).

The order is The Presence of Airy → The Conspiracy of Airy → The Resurrection of Airy, then you return to finish Part 1.

 

Part 1: The Presence of Airy

3	Witness's Statement	Lee Jing (Mt.Tai-South)	Lee Jing says something horrible happened at Mt.Tai-South. Search around Mt.Tai-South.
4	Tragic Tragedy	Mt.Tai-South	You find a letter written in an ancient language. Take it to the bookseller in Beijing.
5	Foreign Language	Kee Xiao (Beijing)	Kee Xiao, the bookseller in Beijing, can read the ancient language. Go and talk to him.
6	Begin of a Secret	Kee Xiao → Bo Piao (Cheng Chow)	A Special Book is needed to translate the letter. Go to Bo Piao in Cheng Chow.
7	Looking for Mysterious Item	Bo Piao → Mausoleum	Bo Piao will only give you the Special Book in exchange for the O Bipa (Jade Lute). Go and search the Mausoleum.
8	Whereabout of the Jade Lute	Mausoleum → Bo Piao	At the Mausoleum you find Map Fragments instead of the lute. Bring the map back to Bo Piao in Cheng Chow.
9	Quest of Jade Lute	Mt.Tai-North	Hybrid Barbarians stole the O Bipa. Hunt Hybrid Barbarians at Mt.Tai-North until you get the O Bipa, then trade it to Bo Piao in Cheng Chow for the Special Book.
10	Secret Unveils	Kee Xiao (Beijing)	Bring the Special Book to Kee Xiao in Beijing and talk to him to learn the truth. Then continue with Part 2.

 

Part 2: The Conspiracy of Airy

3	Heading towards Lo Yang	Titlist (Lo Yang)	Hand all the ingredients to Titlist.
4	Requiring Bowl...	Old Man (Beijing)	A bowl is needed for the food. Go to the Old Man in Beijing, who is skilled at making bowls.
5	Terms and Condition!!!	Great Wall	The Old Man will give you a bowl once you pass his test. Go and talk to the Injured Monster at the Great Wall.
6	Healing	Shaolin Temple	A special herb is needed to heal the monster. It grows in various spots around Shaolin Temple.
7	Evening Primrose Seed	Shaolin Temple → Great Wall	Collect Wongyeonja from the Weird Grass, then go back to the Great Wall and heal the Injured Monster.
8	Monster's Wound	Old Man (Beijing)	You receive the Orb of Secrets. Bring it to the Old Man in Beijing.
9	Nice Bowl	Titlist (Lo Yang)	Receive the bowl from the Old Man and bring it to Titlist in Lo Yang.
10	Delicious Food	Kee Xiao (Beijing)	Receive the Delicious Food from Titlist and bring it to Kee Xiao in Beijing.
11	Strange Rumour	Kee Xiao (Beijing)	Kee Xiao finishes translating the letter. It is about a mysterious herb called the Resurrection Incense. Ask Kee Xiao for details.
12	Secret of Resurrection Incense	Beijing Guard (Beijing)	A strange rumour is going around town. Talk to the Beijing Guard to learn the secret of the Resurrection Incense.
13	Quest of Resurrection Incense	Shaolin Temple	Go to Shaolin Temple and find the 3 Hidden Boxes.
14	Empty Box	Beijing Guard (Beijing)	The box turns out to be empty. Bring it back to the Beijing Guard in Beijing, then continue with Part 3.

 

Part 3: The Resurrection of Airy

3	Owner Verification	Xiu Zi → Le Xian (Beijing)	Xiu Zi asks you to find Pure Incense, which is made from herbs. Go and talk to Le Xian (the doctor) in Beijing.
4	Ingredients for Pure Incense	Mount Song	Gather 3 ingredients at Mount Song • Demon Chonchon Bone Powder x1: hunt Ghost Balla • Brutal Ghoul Oil x1: hunt Vamp Soul • Bouquet x1: flowers that grow on Mount Song
5	Produce Aromatizer	Le Xian (Beijing)	Bring all the ingredients to Le Xian and receive the Pure Incense.
6	Owner Verification	Xiu Zi (Beijing)	Give the Pure Incense to Xiu Zi and receive the Resurrection Incense.
7	Missing of Resurrection Incense	Mt.Tai-North	In the middle of the night a little ghost sneaks in, steals the Resurrection Incense and flees to Mt.Tai-North. Follow it there.
8	Reunite with Master	Your path's master (Hong QiGong / Crazy Ouyang)	Your master learns you are in danger and summons you. Go and talk to your master.
9	Missing Child	Beijing Guard (Beijing)	Xiao Ling, the Beijing Guard's daughter, has gone missing. Go back and talk to the Beijing Guard in Beijing.
10	Soul of a Little Boy	Mt.Tai-North	Xiao Ling went missing the night the Little Boy's Soul appeared. Look for the Little Boy's Soul at Mt.Tai-North.
11	Battle against Darkness	Master	You and Airy are moved to your master's secret dimension. Talk to your master.
12	The Battle Begins	Airy's Soul	Airy's soul appears. Defeat it in a duel.
13	Shining Spirit	Master	After defeating Airy's soul, talk to your master.
14	The Pain of Body	Airy	Defeat Airy in a duel before his body is fully revived.
15	Sealing	Master	Airy's soul and body must both be sealed. Talk to your master.
16	Holy Tower	Taar Temple	Seal Airy's soul in the box near the tower at the top of Taar Temple.
17	Growth	Master	The duel with Airy shows you have grown stronger. Talk to your master, then go back and finish Part 1.

 

Finishing the Quest (Back to Part 1)

2	The True Side of Yourself	Master (Hong QiGong / Crazy Ouyang)	Talk to your master to complete the 2nd Job Advancement. You become Divine Stage or Demonic Stage according to your path.

 

This quest has several duels against Airy's soul and body. If you lose, you get the quest Challenge Again: go back and talk to your master in Beijing, then duel again.
